After two and a half month since she joined the EU Naval Force, ESPS Navarra, a ship of the EUROMARFOR Task Group, has paid a visit to Port Victoria in the Seychelles.
As the port visit coincided with Spain’s National Day, the Spanish Ambassador to The Seychelles, Mr Miguel Fernandez Palacios, took the opportunity to visit the frigate and attend a reception on board.
After being given a ceremonial welcome, the Ambassador was briefed on ESPS Navarra’s capabilities and its role in Operation Atalanta, the EU’s counter-piracy mission off the coast of Somalia.
After the presentation, the Ambassador was given a tour of the ship, which included a visit to the Operations Room, the Bridge and helicopter deck. On completion of the tour, he had lunch with the Commanding Officer.
In the evening, ESPS Navarra arranged a reception on board, hosted by the Spanish Ambassador. Many distinguished guests attended, such as the Vice President of the Republic of Seychelles and Government Ministers.
During the reception the Commanding Officer gave a toast highlighting the efforts of the European Union and the Seychelles Government to strengthen maritime security in the region.
