REAR ADMIRAL MARCIAL GAMBOA PÉREZ-PARDO
(CHIEF OF THE NAVAL STAFF FLEET AND CHIEF OF STAFF OF COMEUROMARFOR)

Rear Admiral Marcial Gamboa Pérez-Pardo assumed duties as Chief of the Naval Staff Fleet and Chief of Staff of COMEUROMARFOR on 3 october 2014.

Belonging to a family with a long seafaring tradition, he was admitted to the Escuela Naval Militar (Military Naval Academy) in 1978 and received his commission as a Lieutenant Junior Grade in 1983.

His warfare specialty is submarines and antisubmarine weapons as well as a graduate of the Naval Staff College.

He has served onboard various ships and submarines throughout his professional career, distinguishing himself as Executive Officer of the submarine “Tramontana” and Commanding Officer of the mine countermeasures ship “Miño”, submarine “Narval” and frigate “Navarra”.

His shore tours include: Operations Officer of the Submarine Flotilla, Chief of Staff of Mine Warfare, Naval Aide to the Admiral of the Fleet, Chief of Logistics for the Fleet, Chief of Staff of CEVACO (Combat Evaluation Centre), Doctrine Chief for bureau of personnel and Superintendent of the Escuela Naval Militar. His last shore tour, prior to assuming duties as Chief of the Naval Staff Fleet, was the Director of Naval Education.

His personal awards include: the Grand Cross, Plaque and Cross of the Royal Military Order of Saint Hermenegild, five Naval Merit Crosses, and three NATO and UEO medals.

He is married and has five children, one of which is also a Naval Officer.
