Local Somali leaders were hosted on board Spanish warship, ESPS Victoria on Saturday, October 31 2015.
The crew of the Spanish ship took aboard three leaders of the Somali coastal town Eyl. They spoke about the role of EU Naval Force in the region and its commitment to deter and disrupt piracy and to monitor fishing activities along the coastline.
Following the successful meeting and a tour of the ship, the three local Somali leaders returned to the shore and ESPS Victoria continued with her counter-piracy patrols.
The frigate Victoria has been deployed in the Indian Ocean since early October, and is expected to remain integrated in EUNAVFOR Atalanta until February, 2016.
