On Wednesday 23 December 2015, Operation Atalanta flagship, ITS Carabiniere, supported a local orphanage and charitable organisations during her visit to Antisiranana.

Sailors from the Italian Warship donated food, medical equipment, stationery and toys while carrying out maintenance to help improve the general conditions of the facilities.

Several organizations benefitted from the donations, including the medical centre, Le Samaritaine, an organisation for the disabled, the Soeurs  du Coeur Immaculee de Marie, the orphanage, Le Sacre Coeur, and the public school, Bon Pasteur.

During their visit, members of ITS Carabiniere’s crew also completed a charity run onboard to raise money for the local communities.
