On Monday 7th March 2016, ITS Carabiniere, EUROMARFOR flagship for Operation Atalanta, hosted the Italian Ambassador to Oman, during a port visit to Muscat.
The Commander of the EUROMARFOR Naval Group, Admiral Stefano Barbieri and the Flagship Commander, CDR Francesco Saladino, welcomed Ambassador Giorgio Visetti on board.
The Ambassador followed a tour of the ship and was briefed on ITS Carabiniere’s capabilities and her role in Operation Atalanta, the EU’s counter-piracy mission off the coast of Somalia.
Ambassador Giorgio Visetti expressed his greetings and sincere gratitude to the crew for all the work done that is essential to strengthen maritime security in the Gulf of Aden.
