EUROMARFOR cooperates with Royal Moroccan Navy

On May 3rd, 2017, ships of EUROMARFOR completed the first phase of their participation in the Multi-cooperative Exercise with Royal Moroccan Navy.

These first phase aimed to ensure common procedures, represented a very challenged period, full of different activities, including the activation ceremony, that represents the willingness of crews to work together, the execution of test to communications systems and to fix last minute details of the activities programmed to the sea phase.

Hence, a pre-sail conference and operational meetings were carried out and some useful information were presented and shared before starting with the sea program.

The sea phase commenced JMay 3rd, in Moroccan territorial waters, after a planning and harbour phase was conducted at Casablanca.

To carry out this activity, the Operational Commander of the EUROMARFOR Force, Vice Admiral Donato Marzano  (the Commander in Chief of the Italian Fleet)  assigned the command of this EUROMARFOR Task group to Capitan (ITN) Vratogna, assisted by an international staff.

Today (May 4th) the ships are sailing and conducting activities in the domain of maritime security.

This is the real purpose of the multi-cooperative, to enhance and promote the importance of the security at sea, building confidence and capacity between EUROMARFOR Nations (France, Italy, Portugal and Spain) and Mediterranean neighbours with the final goal of making and keeping the Mediterranean sea safe and secure in order to ensure the freedom of the movements at sea.
