On the 29th of April, EUROMARFOR Task Group arrived in Mahon, Spain to participate in the exercise Spanish Minex 18.

On the 29th of April, EUROMARFOR Task Group arrived in Mahon, Spain to participate in the exercise Spanish Minex 18.

The Spanish Minex is an annual exercise, scheduled by the Spanish Navy Fleet Commander (ALFLOT) and conducted by the Spanish Mine Warfare Forces Command (COMTEMECOM), from the 30th of April to 11th of May 2018.

The exercise will mainly take place in Balearic Sea, off the Spanish Mediterranean coast, with the scope to train naval assets to conduct Mine Counter Measures (MCM) operations in support of a secure and safe maritime environment.

The commander of the EMF Task Group is Commander Gomes Bras (Portuguese Navy) assisted by an international staff. The EMF TG, composed by the Portuguese NRP Viana do Castelo (flagship) with an MW Unmanned Underwater Vehicle Detachment on-board and the ESPS Duero, will berth at Mahon up to the 30th April.

Other assets from NATO and the Spanish Navy participate in the exercise.
