MARE APERTO is one of the largest, high-end exercises in the Mediterranean Sea, specifically tailored to achieve a comprehensive and highly realistic training of maritime forces in the entire spectrum of maritime operations. Sponsored by the ITN and planned and conducted at sea by the Commander in Chief of the Italian Fleet, it aims at further enhancing and demonstrating the interoperability of the participating assets, with the additional objective to represent added measures to assure NATO’s member countries about the Alliance’s commitment to the security and stability of the area.
This EMF activation of the Escort Task Group shows the resolve of EMF nations to strengthen tactical and technical knowledge, as well as enhancing the cooperation between the four navies, thus strengthening the maritime security.
