The Italian Navy has decommissioned its deep sea tugboat ITS Prometeo after over 40 years of service.
The ships was decommissioned on October 5 at naval base Augusta in a ceremony attended by the chief of Coastal Defence Forces (COMFORPAT).
Prometeo was the second of two Atlante-class tugboats built by Cantiere Navale Visentini for the Italian Navy in 1975 and commissioned in 1976.
The 39-meter-long vessels were used for fire intervention on other units and anti-pollution tasks in addition to supporting COMFORPAT units.
