Italian Mine Hunter set sails to join EMF activation

ITS RIMINI left hers homeport to join the EUROMARFOR mine counter measures task group. Is the 40th time since hers foundation that and EUROMARFOR TG is activated.

ITS Rimini is the last of eight Lerici Class Minehunters 2nd series (also known as Gaeta Class Minehunters), was launched in September 17, 1994 and delivered to Italian Navy in May 1996. Its usual port of assignment is La Spezia.

Following a recent organic restructuring, starting from 01 December 2014, ITS Rimini depends, organically and operationally, by the Command in Chief of the Fleet (CINCNAV), through the Command of the 54th Minesweeper Squadron (COMSQUADRAG FIVE FOUR) and the Command of the Mine Countermeasure Forces (MARICODRAG).

Lieutenant Giuseppe Manganaro is the commanding Officer of ITS RIMINI that will integrate the EMF task group under the Operational Control of COMEUROMARFOR the Vice Admiral (PON) Henrique Gouveia e Melo.
