EUROMARFOR Fleet Commanders' meeting took place today in Santa Rosa (Rome), at the Italian Navy Fleet Headquarters (CINCNAV)

The EUROMARFOR Fleet Commanders' meeting took place today in Santa Rosa (Rome), at the Italian Navy Fleet Headquarters (CINCNAV).

This is the annual meeting of the Fleet Commanders of the EMF member navies (France, Italy, Portugal, and Spain) and the halfway point of the Italian operational command mandate of the Force.

The meeting, hosted by the Commander of EUROMARFOR, Vice Admiral Aurelio DE CAROLIS (who is also Commander in Chief of the Italian Navy Fleet, CINCNAV), was attended by Vice Admiral Christophe CLUZEL, Chief of the Action Naval Force (ALFAN, French Navy), Vice Admiral Nuno CHAVES FERREIRA, Chief of the Portuguese Navy Fleet (COMNAV) and Vice Admiral Eugenio DIAZ DEL RIO JAUDANES, Chief of the Spanish Navy Fleet (ALFLOT).

This is an exceptional and fruitful opportunity to share the results achieved during the past 12 months of intense activities in the Mediterranean Sea and beyond (such as the Gulf of Guinea) and to consolidate EUROMARFOR intent to enhance Force’s interoperability and readiness through the execution of the Activity Program for the upcoming months.

“A strong and effective maritime force requires constant preparation and learning”, Vice Admiral DE CAROLIS said. The COMEUROMARFOR also emphasized the significance of persistently collaborating with allies and partner navies to identify optimal training opportunities, thereby guaranteeing the Force's readiness for potential future involvement in Real-World Operations (RWO).

Indeed, during its nearly three decades of existence, EUROMARFOR has proven to be a robust and efficient initiative, capable of proving its role as a maritime security provider either independently or in collaboration with other international institutions and organizations such as the European Union, NATO, OSCE, and the United Nations.
