The European Maritime Force (EUROMARFOR) was invited to be present at the seminar "Security & Defence Day 10" held in Brussels on last November 30th. Commander of EUROMARFOR was unable due to previous commitments, Rear Admiral Silva Ribeiro on his behalf attended the Seminar and lectured about the European Maritime Force experience integrated in "European Union (EU) as a maritime power "session.

In this panel was also stressed the importance to avoid duplication of resources and skills at sea. In this context, were discussed the opportunities created by the Treaty of Lisbon as well as the current world's financial crisis in order to achieve the complementarity actions to be carried out through states and EU at sea.

In this seminar, which was organized by the Security & Defence Agenda (SDA) and the European Company for Strategic Intelligence (CEIS), were also discussed some additional topics such as: international challenges for the growing political power of the EU; resource security; deterrence and nonproliferation, solidarity and management of migratory flows, the EU's response to emergencies; strategic autonomy of Europe.
